Event Title: National Night Out

The Tehachapi Police Foundation will partner this year with Tehachapi Police Department for the 2017 National Night Out. The event will take place at Philip Marx Central Park on Tuesday, Aug. 1, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

National Night Out is a wonderful opportunity to bring the family, have a hot dog, meet our first responders and get wonderful safety information for everyone. Again this year at 8 p.m., Tehachapi Valley Recreation & Park District will hold the second annual Glow Walk. The Glow Walk is an easy one-mile stroll around downtown to show unity for our law enforcement officers. Following the walk, TVRPD will host a movie in the park for the whole family.

There will be booths, emergency vehicles on display and several demonstrations provided by the Tehachapi Police Explorers. The booths will include TVRPD, Kern County Fire, Search and Rescue, Hall Ambulance, many nonprofits, activities and games and much more.

There is space available for more booths. The event is open to the public and free. Mark your calendar, join the fun. For information regarding participation, contact Kim Nixon at 619-5123.

Its a Toxic Roundup! Residents of Kern County can take their Household Hazardous Waste to the Tehachapi Landfill for free on Saturday, August 6 from 9 am to Noon.

Transportation Guidelines:

Transport no more than 15 gallons or 125 pounds of waste per trip
Make sure containers are not leaking and are properly labeled
Keep wastes separated and away from passengers

All official oldtimers will have an opportunity to pre-register for the event to guarantee a meal.
The public is welcome and food is sold on a first come, first serve basis.

This annual event sponsored by Tehachapi Valley Arts Association and Gallery 'N' Gifts, draws big crowds of artists to the streets of Tehachapi. The sidewalks burst into color as artists armed with chalk, create fabulous works of art. Participants get a T-shirt, box of chalk and a 4x4 square to draw in with their registration. Proceeds from this event raise money for art scholarships and project grants for local area art classes. Sponsors get their name on the back of the vent T-shirt and an entry to the event.

The Lancaster North Western Garden Railroad Club will be joining us with their "G" Gauge layout. The Orange County Ngineers will be will be joining us with their N scale layout. We will also have a bake sale.

Admission is free......

We will have a raffle for a Thomas toy train, and a 6 month membership.

Cowboys from across the country will come to compete for points toward the PRCA finals and large cash purses in grueling events like bronc riding, steer wrestling and bull riding. Lightening fast Cowgirls will be taking razor sharp turns around the barrels and down to the finish line. The adrenaline will be pumping as bull-fighters and barrel men will serve as bodyguards for bull riders who've been thrown from bulls after their eight-second rides. World class stock will be bucking hard and kicking high to assure plenty of rodeo excitement.

The T-Town Rumble returns to Tehachapi on August 26th this year, but from 9am to 2pm (check-in begins at 8 am now.) Registration is $25 with early-birds receiving a Rumble Tee. First 75 entrants will receive a gift bag. At the door fee is also $25, but with no Tee.
