David Butler, President of Adventist Health Tehachapi Valley and Adventist Health Delano

Please join the Greater Tehachapi Chamber of Commerce for our April Virtual Network Luncheon on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. Our guest speaker will be Our guest speaker will be David Butler, President of Adventist Health Tehachapi Valley and Adventist Health Delano. David will provide an update on Adventist Health Tehachapi Valley.

David A. Butler currently serves as President of Adventist Health Delano Regional Medical Center, a 156-bed acute hospital that recently joined Adventist Health. Mr. Butler coordinated the successful transition of DRMC to Adventist Health on January 1, 2020 with services including; intensive care, medical-surgical care, surgical pavilion, the birth center, two rural health clinics, the 51-bed special care sub-acute unit and the new start-of-the-art outpatient pavilion. Mr. Butler was recently named the new President of Adventist Health Tehachapi Valley, which is a 25-bed Critical Access hospital in the beautiful mountains of Tehachapi. In this new role Mr. Butler will also remain as President of Adventist Health Delano and oversee all operations of both hospitals to improve alignment of services and resources to better serve the nearly 1 million residents living in Kern County.

Mr. Butler has had a long history of successfully managing hospitals in difficult markets and had the opportunity to build a brand new 200-bed replacement hospital in the south Texas Region of Brownsville owned and operated by HealthTrust, Inc. He has worked for a variety of hospital systems ranging from For-Profit, Faith-Based, district hospitals and community owned facilities. He has served in multiple roles including COO, Vice President and Assistant Administrator. He also holds a background in Nursing Home Administration and received a degree in nursing.

Butler holds a Bachelor's degree in Long-Term Healthcare and received his Master's in Business Administration (MBA) degree from Southern Adventist University in Collegedale, Tennessee. He and his wife Luminita have two children, a son named Nathan and a daughter named Nicole. They enjoy nature, camping, outdoors activities, golfing and healthy living. They are devoted Christians and are presently home schooling their children where they currently live in Bakersfield, CA.

David will be joined by Sarah Shelbourne, Physician and Ambulatory Services Executive for Adventist Health Kern County and Josh Pierce, Manager of Training and Development.

Sarah joined Adventist Health in 2019 as the Physician and Ambulatory Services Executive for Kern County, representing 15 medical offices throughout the county which provides over 130,000 patient visits/year. Prior to joining Adventist Health, Sarah was with Optimal Health Services for 16 years serving as the CFO for most of that time and CEO for the final year year. At the time of the sale of Optimal, it was the largest privately owned Hospice in the state of California. Sarah is a Bakersfield native and has been married for 30 years, with 2 children, a son (22) and daughter (17).
