Our guest speaker will be Michelle Vance, District Manager Tehachapi Valley Recreation & Park District. Michelle will be discussing the upcoming Prop 68 Statewide Park Development and Community Revitalization Program Grant applications for Central Park, West Park and a project in Sand Canyon

THE OFFICE OF GRANTS AND LOCAL SERVICES (OGALS) MISSION - To address California's diverse recreational, cultural and historical resource needs by developing grant programs, administering funds, offering technical assistance, building partnerships, and providing leadership through quality customer service.

Michelle Vance currently serves as the District Manager for the Tehachapi Valley Recreation & Park District. In her capacity as the District Manager, she is responsible for managing and implementing the day to day operations of the district.

Michelle joined the Park District in July 2017 from the City of Tehachapi as the Economic Development Coordinator. In her capacity as Economic Development Coordinator, she was responsible for implementing principles and practices of economic development, business recruitment, and retention and expansion policies.

She joined the City from the County of Kern, where she was the Field Representative for Second District Supervisor Zack Scrivner. In that capacity, Michelle worked closely with East Kern communities and was instrumental in developing the Revitalize East Kern program. She also gained extensive experience while working with downtown Tehachapi business owners as the Executive Director of Main Street Tehachapi, a non-profit organization, which promotes economic development in the historic downtown business district.

Michelle graduated from California State University Bakersfield where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Policy Administration with a concentration in marketing. Further, Michelle has taken several advanced courses while attending the MPA program at Cal State University Bakersfield.

Michelle is a member of California Park & Recreation Society, the Greater Tehachapi Economic Development Council board of directors, Tehachapi Tourism Commission, Tehachapi Lions Club, and the Tehachapi Rotary Club.

Michelle has lived in Tehachapi for 26 years with her husband Rick and her two children Wyatt (24) and Kelsey (22).
